a. Note:   , USA In the Name of God, Amen: I, W. L. Todd, of the County of Dade and State of Missouri, being atthis time in fair health and full possession of my mental faculties,do make and publish this my last will and testamnet, as follows: I. I direct that all of my just debts, including my funeral expenses,be paid. II. In view of the fact that I have heretofore given my son, T. N.Todd, eighty acres of land, which i think should be charged up to himin the distribution of my estate; and that I have also some years agoadvanced him One Thousand Dollars, ($1000.00), for which I hold hisnote, I therefore direct that in the distribution of my estate my son,T. n. Todd, be charged with Twenty-Five Hundred Dollars, ($2500.00),on account of the real estate i have given hin and that he also becharged with the One Thousand Dollars, ($1000.00), and all interestthereon from the date of the note up to the date of my death, and thatthe total of these two amounts be deducted before anything is paid tohim out of my estate; with this provision, however, that in case hisproportionate part of my estate does not equal the Twenty-five HundredDollars, ($2500.00), and the note and interest above specified, thenhe is to be turned over the note and not required to pay anything onthe estate. III. In view of the fact that my son, William O. Todd, has beenadvanced Three Hundred Dollars, ($300.00), by me, I direct that beforehe be permitted to participate in the distribution of my estate thathe be charged with the Three Hundred Dollars, ($300.00), and with allinterest thereon from the date of the note to the day of my death. IV. In view of the fact that my son, Jasper D. Todd, has beenadvanced Two Hundred Dollars, ($200.00), by me, I direct that beforehe be permitted to participate in the distribution of my estate thathe be charged with the Two Hundred Dollars, ($200.00), and with allinterest thereon from the date of the note to the day of my death. V. Subject to the above directions, I give, devise and bequeath allof my property, real, mixed, or personal, wheresoever situate, to mychildren, share and share alike, in fee simple absolute. In case any of my children be dead at hte time of my deathand shallhave living children, then I direct that the share to which my child,if living, would have been entitled shall go to the children of mysaid deceased child, share and share alike. VI. I appoint my son, R. C. Todd, as executor of this my last willand testament. In Witness Whereof, i have hereunto subscribed my name, this 30th.,day of June, 1919. (signature) W. L. Neale (signature) ____________________________________________ In the book - Flint Hill School, by Peggy Sue Langford & MinnieLangford there is much information about William L. Todd. He firstappeared as a tax payer for the Flint Hill School Dist. #16, in 1885.On 6/Apr/1886 W. L. was elected as a director for a 3 year term, hewas also chosen as president of the board. He was some how involedwith the school as a; board member, school clerk, repairman, etc.until 1922. ____________________________________________ The following information was contributed by Glenda Dodd,[email protected] Norma Todd Cansler writes, during the early 1880's, they moved theirfamily by horse and wagon to Southwest Missouri. They were in DadeCounty many years where he was a shopkeeper and had the local postoffice in the store. Owned several hundred acres and undoubtedlyfarmed. Also had an interest in a gristmill with Alexander Bush,whose wife, Amanda, was Mary Isabel's sister. In 1880 in RutherfordCounty, TN, he was listed as a farmer, but his daughter, Sarah, statedher father had been a teacher in his young manhood. He had beenreared as a Baptist, but he and Alexander Bush helped establish theChurch of Christ at Flint Hill. ____________________________________________
