Note:   Isaac Clemens was born January 21st, 1815. He followed farming as his calling and resided on his father's old homestead. After the confederation of the four provinces of old Canada in 1867 it became necessary to establish both Dominion and Provincial Legislatures. At the elections held in 1867 Mr. Isaac Clemens was elected as member to represent South Waterloo in the Provincial Legislature. In 1871 he was again elected as the representative of the Reform party. Failing in health and that combined with age, caused Mr. Clemens to retire, in 1875, from political life. He now settled down on his old home near Speedsville where he spent the few remaining years in retirement. His death occurred September 24th, 1880. He was married to Mary Ann Brower who was born August 13, 1811, and died March 27th, 1888. To them were born three children. [Eby Book 1895]
