a. Note:   BENDER, Alice - Passed away peacefully, on Thursday, September 2, 2004, at her residence Nithview Home, New Hamburg. She was born 92 years ago in Wilmot Township and was the daughter of the late John R. and Magdalena (Schwartzentruber) Litwiller. Alice was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden where she was a member of the WMSC. Beloved wife of the late Reuben V. Bender who predeceased her in February of 1968. Dear mother of Miriam and husband Don Higgins of Kitchener, Sandra Roth, Robert and wife Gladys Bender, all of Baden and Karen Lebold of Waterloo. Sadly missed by son-in-law Doug and wife Dorene Snyder of Waterloo and 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also remembered by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary and Curtis Gingerich, Elda Bender, all of Zurich, Ervin and Irene Bender of Guelph, Nodaine Bender of Kitchener and Eileen Bender of New Hamburg. Alice was predeceased by a daughter Doreen Snyder (1998), son-in-law Harold Lebold (1999), grandson Darryl Higgins (1998), great-grandson Connor Lichti (2002). Alice was the last surviving member of her family and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Gertrude and Ben Herner, Herbert and Emma Litwiller, Ida and Norman Gascho, Clayton and Selma Litwiller and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Melvin and Mabel Bender, Elton Bender, Verda Bender, Curtis Bender, Fanny and Reuben Gingerich, Ezra Bender. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg tonight (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m. and again Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 6, 2004 at Steinmann Mennonite Church at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Steve Drudge and Pastor Myrna Miller officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
