a. Note:   BENDER, Warren - Age 80, of Tavistock, passed away, in Stratford General Hospital, on Saturday, July 29, 2006. He was born in East Zorra Township, Oxford County on March 25, 1926. A son of the late Peter Bender and the former Lydia Brenneman. Warren had farmed on the 13th Line of East Zorra Township until retiring to Tavistock in 1979. He is survived by his wife, the former Verna Mae Roth, whom he married at Cassel Mennonite Church on May 29, 1949; four sons, Terrance and wife Velma Bender of RR 1, Tavistock, Ronald James and wife Betty Bender of Williamsford, Murray Bender of Tavistock, Jeffery and wife Pat Bender of Wiarton; one daughter, Karen and husband John Smidts of Stratford; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Jason Cates, Stephen Bender, Matthew and wife Mirindy Bender, Kyle and Melena Bender; Darryl, Anita and Craig Smidts; Jason, Alicia, Katie and Darren Bender; four great-grandchildren, Brett, Bethanie and Terrance Cates and Ethan Bender; three sisters, Martha Mayer of Elmira, Miriam Yutzi of Baden, Louisa Bender of Kitchener; sister-in-law, Jean Roth of Tavistock and several nieces and nephews. Warren was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Percy and Alma Bender; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Lloyd Erb, Marilla and Al Moreash and brothers-in-law, Earl Mayer, Erlis Yutzi, Donald Bender and Wilfred Roth. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock St. N., Tavistock today (Monday) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Tavistock Mennonite Church on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 11 a.m. Pastors Will Loewen and Glenn Zehr will officiate. Interment in East Zorra Mennonite 19th Line Cemetery.
