Note: *K-W Record, Tuesday March 28, 1989* Lucia F. Bauer, a longtime community and church worker and a member of a prominent Waterloo family, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Decorated in 1957 by Pope Pius XII, Bauer held many offices in the Catholic Women's League of St. Louis and was convener of the Hamilton Diocese Council of CWL. Bauer, the youngest of ten children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aloyes Bauer, served as convener of the National Council of CWL, was treasurer of the Victorian Order of Nurses and secretary and treasurer for the central council to Freeport Sanitorium, now Freeport Hospital. She was secretary to her sister Antoinette, while the latter was founding more than 50 CWL councils in the diocese. Sir Edgar Bauer separate school in Waterloo's Lakeshore Village is named after her late brother. Bauer was a member of the Carmel Guild of St. Joseph's and an honorary member of St. Agnes CWL. Survived by her brother Harry of Waterloo and Sister Stanislaus, St Joseph's Mother House in London. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
