Note:   STEINMAN, Gordon - Gordon Steinmann, 85, of Tavistock, passed away in Stratford General Hospital, on Wednesday, November 8, 2006.He was born in East Zorra Township, Oxford County, on April 7, 1921, a son of the late Moses Steinmann and the former Catherine "Kate" Zehr. He was a member of Cassel Mennonite Church; had farmed in Blandford Township until retiring to Tavistock in March of 1980, where he was a member of the Tavistock Men's Club and had enjoyed being "Santa Claus" in the Christmas parades for many years.Gordon is survived by his wife, the former Audrey Leah Bast, whom he married in East Zorra Township on October 7, 1950; two sons, Rodney and wife Thelma Steinmann of RR 3, Brussels, Bradley Steinmann and companion Darlene Arsenault of Stratford; one daughter, Donna and husband Roy Callahan of Martinsville, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Joanna, Luke and Aimee-Joy Steinmann; Jason and wife Kayla Callahan; Colleen, Candace and Ryan Callahan; Robert and David Steinmann, Curtis and Codie Arsenault; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Callahan; three brothers, Wilfred and wife Vivian Steinmann of RR 1, Bright; Neil and wife Marnie Steinmann of Woodstock, Floyd and wife Catherine Steinmann of Tavistock; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Laurene and Edward Zehr, Patricia Bast, Mary Ellen and John "Jack" Ruby, Phyllis Lichti, Sharon and Donald Gingerich.He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Esther Steinmann and his brother-in-law, Glen Bast.Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Cassel Mennonite Church, RR 1, Tavistock, on Saturday, November 11, 2006, at 2 p.m. The Rev. James Whitehead will officiate. Interment in East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery, 16th line.As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Memorial Fund of Cassel Mennonite Church would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 1-519-655-2431.
