Note: BENDER, Clayton R. - Clayton R. Bender of Tavistock, passed away in the People Care Health Care Centre, Tavistock, on Thursday, September 28, 2006 in his 92nd year. He was born in East Zorra Township on April 22, 1915. He was a member of east Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th line. Clayton was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Rosetta Magdalena Bender, on July 28, 2005. They were married in East Zorra Township on January 5, 1938. He is survived by his children, Shirley and Geoffrey Richards and their children, Steven and Jen, Lynne and David, Anne; Douglas and Joan Bender and their children, Michael and Jackie, Lee-Ann and John; David and Susan Bender and their children, Justin and Helena, Ashley and Jennifer, Elliot and Sonya; Ruth Ann and Stuart Steckle and their children, Julie and Jon, Dustin; Steven and Jane Bender and their children, Rob and Lori, Angela and Rob; Eugene and Marcia Bender and their children, Amanda and Shane, Adam, Eric; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Viola Ropp, Lyle and Ruby Weber, Verda Swartzentruber, Leona Bender and Ellen Bender and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jacob B. and Magdalena (Ramseyer) Bender; his daughter-in-law, Pat; two grandsons in infancy; his brothers and sisters, Barbara (John) Lichti, Milton (Magdalena, Glena) Bender, Abner (Elvera) Bender, Luella (Nicholas) Jutzi, Lydian (Joe) Bender, Druscilla (William, Michael, Noah) Roth, Lorne (Annie) Bender and Elgin Bender; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Neil Ropp, Mervin Swartzentruber, Mervin Bender, Rufus Bender, Christian and Ada Bender. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock, on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th line on Sunday. October 1, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Pastors Delmer and Elsie Epp will officiate. Interment in East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery, 16th line. As expressions of sympathy, donations to East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th line or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
