Note: [alexanderchris.FTW] Original death notice written by a friend of John F Alexander. John Alexander Dead. John F Alexander was born in Indiana, June 6, 1845. When he was a mere lad his Parents moved to Missouri and settled in Gentry County, where he had resided ever since, with The exception of what time he served in The army and a short time spent in California. On March 16, 1878, he was married to Miss Mary Lykins. Five sons where born to this union, four of whom survive. They are: Preston E., Clarence Scott., Claude E., and John F Alexander. The wife, three sisters and one brother also survive, with a large circle of friends, to mourn his death. Mr. Alexander had been about two weeks a sufferer from that relentless desease,consumption. Some two weeks prior to his death, he became so weak, that he was compelled to give up and go to bed, and he sank rapidly untill friday, August 7th, at 2;30 p.m. when death put an end to his sufferings. He had been converted a short time before his death, and nearly his last words were: " Dont greive for me I am going to The happy land. I am ready." He then shook hands with his Family, reletives and friends, and crossed The river of death. The following day, in The presence of a host of friends, we laid his body to rest in The Hall Cemetery.
