Note: JETHRO GIBSON HANSFORD b. 1 June 1839 Georgia d. 25 December 1928 Athens, Georgia Son of James Alexander Hansford and Phoebe Hardy of Oglethorpe County Jethro Gibson enlisted in the CSA on 17 September 1861 at Yorktown, Virginia, as a Private with Company K, 6th Georgia Infantry. ("Gilmer Blues") He was wounded 1 July 1862 in the Battle of Malvern Hill in Virginia. He was again seriously wounded in the Battle of Olustee, Florida, and sent home on wounded furlough. He returned to service and was present at the surrender at Greensboro, North Carolina. Jethro is buried in Watkinsville, Georgia, along with his wife Olive Yarbrough. His military record is on file with the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
