a. Note:   Tulsa World (OK) - August 29, 2003 Deceased Name: McCAIN -- Dr. John Emery McCAIN -- Dr. John Emery, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2003. Dr. McCain was born October 31, 1927 in Tulsa, OK to Camilla Emery and Barnes McCain, raised by his Aunt Lucretia May Emery. During WWII, he volunteered to be a Paratrooper in the Pacific theater with the 11th Airborne Division "Angels" serving his country as a Sergeant until honorably discharged. Dr. McCain graduated from the University of Tulsa. He played varsity basketball for the Golden Hurricane earning him the nickname "Bulldog." After graduation, he worked several years as a Zone Manager for International Harvester until deciding to return to school. After receiving his Master's degree and Ph.D in Economics from Oklahoma State University, Dr. McCain taught Economics for 22 years at the University of Arkansas. He was a rabid "Hog" fan. Interests included being an active member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, singing with the Ragtime Professors for 25 years, sail boating and spending time wit! h his family. Dr. McCain was married for 54 years to his high school sweetheart, Marcia Rae McCain (nee McClelland). He was a devoted husband and father of 4 children who are deeply grateful for the love he showed and the example he set every day of his life. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Andres. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Rae McCain; his children, Steven Emery McCain, Marilyn Kay Wiesehan, David Brian McCain, Bruce John McCain; grandchildren, Devin Emery McCain, Lauren Jill McCain, Jeffery Scott McCain, Christopher John Wiesehan, Robert John Wiesehan, Piper Cheyenne McCain, Hannah Emery McCain, Olivia Rose McCain; in-laws, John Wiesehan, Leslie McCain, Susan Bernheimer (formerly McCain), Stefanie McCain; niece and nephew, Jonathan Andres and Laura Andres. Cremation was by Moore's Chapel. A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2925 Old Missouri Road in Fayetteville, AR 72703 on Saturday, August 30 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers ! memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Si! ngle Parent Scholarship Fund of Washington County, 614 E.
