Note: Mildred Marjorie Bonacker, 84, 3710 E. Peony Place #202, Sioux Falls, SD passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital on Sunday, January 26, 2003 in the presence of her family. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 9:00 AM with family present from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Burial will follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery. Mildred was born on a farm near Colton, SD on February 1, 1918 to Melvin A. and Minnie (Wold) Scott. Mildred was baptized and confirmed at West Nidaros Church in Crooks, SD. Mildred moved to Sioux Falls and during the war years worked at Dickinson Bros. Bakery and at the Arkota Ballroom. Mildred married Orville L. Bonacker on April 19, 1941 in Sioux Falls. Orville passed away on July 13, 1996. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, was active in the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Women's Order of the Moose. Mildred enjoyed dancing, bowling, and playing cards with family and with her friends at the Moose Lodge. Mildred was very dedicated to her family and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings as she was an excellent cook and baker. Grateful for having shared her life are her four daughters: Carole (Leo) Flanagan of Sioux Falls, SD; DeeAnn (Bill) Stevens of Pierre, SD; Mary (JR) Wiese of Conway, AR; and Sue (Joe) Mertes of Sioux Falls, SD; two sons: David (Pat) of Sioux Falls, SD; and John (Lavinia) of Colby, WI; 14 grandchildren: Mark and Rob deWit, Julie (deWit) Leonard, Laura Bonacker-Schuldt, Lisa (Bonacker) Meyer, Matt Bonacker, Melissa Stevens, Kara Bonacker, Jenna and Jadon Wiese, Kelsey, Taylor, Jordan, and Dylan Mertes; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Scott of Sioux Falls, SD; and Ken Scott of Sun City West, AZ; one sister, Mardell Bernards of Glendale, AZ. Her husband, Orville; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Marian McCoy preceded her in death.
