Note: Marvena C. Christensen, age 87, of Sioux Falls, SD died Saturday, February 2, 2002, at Bethany Lutheran Home. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2002, at the Kingdom Hall, 49th and Terry Ave. Marvena Cora Carlson, daughter, of Anna (Estensen) and Charles Carlson, was born October 3, 1914 in Brandt, SD. She grew up and received her education in the Pipestone, MN, area. On November 12, 1935, she was united in marriage to Alfred Christensen in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple later farmed near Hartford, SD, where Marvena was a loving homemaker and mother. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1968 where she worked for a local hotel. Alfred preceded her in death on October 19, 1988. She was a member of Jehovah Witness. Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters: Betty Prouty, Garretson, SD, Thora Krier, Sioux Falls; three sons: Alfred C. and his wife, Barbara, Jefferson, SD, Jim and his wife, Diane, Salem, SD, Jerry and his wife, Sue, Garretson, SD; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, a sister, Velma Helgeson, Sioux Falls, and a brother, Ellsworth Carlson of North Carolina.
