Loneita Campbell: Death: 1936
Note: Francis M. Campbell, a resident of this county since 1881, died at the Methodist hospital in Mitchell, SD on Sunday. He had been a patient there for about two weeks. Funeral services were Tuesday afternoon in the Presbyterian church here, with Rev. Lee James conducting. Burial was made in Wildwood cemetery in Salem, SD. The pallbearers were Rueben Rabenhorst. Oscar Karlson, Henry Stark, T.J. Murphy, Murl Staley and William Schneider. Francis M. Campbell was born near Kasson, Dodge county, Minnesota on July 25, 1869, son of Francis M. and Sarah Campbell. They came to Dakota Territory in 1881 and homesteaded on the farm just across the road from the present Campbell family home. On December 22, 1897, he was married to Etta Emmel of Salem. Five children were born to them, two daughters passing away in infancy. Another daughter, Loneita, died in 1936. During all his adult life Mr. Campbell was engaged in farming. For the past 40 years he had been a member of Salem I.O.O.F. lodge. His death occurred on March 20, 1949, at the age of 79 years, seven months and 25 days. He is survived by his widow and two sons, William F. and Lew G. Campbell; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lew Campbell; two step grandsons, Phillip and Camden Raue, all of Salem, SD; one brother, Miles Campbell of Miller, SD.
