Note: Elizabeth Gebhart was born to Boniface and Magdalena Gebhart on March 31, 1885 at Remsen, Iowa. She married Herman Bunkers on January 30, 1908 at Remsen. Herman was born on September 11, 1884 at Remsen, Iowa. After their marriage, Herman and Lizzie moved to Iona, Minnesota and farmed for two years. They moved to Miranda, SD where Herman managed a hardware store for three years. In 1913 they bought a hardware store in Colman, SD. Unable to find housing at that time, Lizzie and the children stayed with Ben and Frances Gebhart at Dell Rapids, SD for several months until Herman was able to get his family settled in their new home. Herman added a hatchery and farm store in 1937. During W.W.II they all kept a hectic pace trucking fresh produce to Chicago and Milwaukee. Dick Bunkers and Vick Bowar would average two trips per week each during those years trucking eggs and chickens to the east. In 1955 the stores were sold to Dick Bunkers and Herman retired. In 1955 Lizzie had gall bladder surgery and suffered liver damage. Thirteen weeks later she passed away on November 25, 1955 at Colman, SD. Herman died January 12, 1963. They are both buried at Colman. Herman and Lizzie had three children: Casilda Bunkers Bowar, Richard B. Bunkers and Irene Bunkers Bryant.
