a. Note:   Salem Special, Salem, South Dakota, June 22, 1961 Frank H. Kolbeck, a life long Salem, SD area resident, passed away suddenly at the farm home of his son, Marvin Kolbeck, near LeMars, Iowa, last Thursday evening, June 15, 1961 at the age of 69. Solemn Requiem High Mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday June 19, 1961 with the Rev. Henry Kolbeck, Howard, SD, brother of the deceased, as celebrant. The Rev. Leo C. Harpenau of Templeton, Iowa was deacon, the Rev R.L. Grabowski, Salem, sub deacon, and the Rev. P. C. Conway of Salem gave the sermon. The Rev Leonard Nemmers of Oldham, SD and the Rev Henry Sikkes of Epiphany, SD were also in attendance. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lawrence Tuschen, R.J. Glass, Herman Gstohl, Frank G. Kolbeck, Tony Kolbeck, and Cornelius Roling. Frank H. Kolbeck, son of Henry and Catherine Kolbeck, was born at Salem, SD on Dec 24, 1891. Mr. Kolbeck lived all of his life in the Salem area, farming until 1946 when he retired and moved into Salem city. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Gstohl at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem, SD on Feb 9, 1915. Mrs. Kolbeck passed away in 1952. He is survived by one son, Marvin Kolbeck, LeMars, Iowa; four grandchildren; two sisters, Sr. M. Ephrem, O.S.P., Chicago, Illinois; and Mrs. Clara Haiar of Salem, SD; two brothers, Fr Henry Kolbeck of Howard, SD; and William Kolbeck of Chewehal, Washington.
