a. Note:   Salem Special, Salem, South Dakota, Thursday, April 13, 1995 Funeral Mass for Anna Eichacker was held Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Mass was celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ripp. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Eichacker, Mary Jo Matzen, David Eichacker, Charles Eichacker Jr., Steve Eichacker, Virginia Wingen, Charlene Napiewocki, and Tod Eichacker. Anna Paweltzki was born February 28, 1909 in Turner County near Marion, SD, to August and Mary (Detterman) Paweltzki. She graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1928. She married Joseph Eichacker at Bridgewater on November 19, 1930. She farmed with her husband in the Bridgewater area until 1942 when they moved to a farm near Salem. They moved into Salem in 1963. Her husband died May 31, 1975. She continued to live in Salem until December of 1994 when she moved to the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater. Ann died at the Diamond Care Center on Sunday, April 9, 1995. She had reached the age of 86 years, one month and 11 days. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Salem, the Altar Society, Catholic Society of Foresters, and Christian Mothers. She loved growing flowers, doing flower arrangements, and making quilts. Survivors include seven sons, Lyle and his wife Helene of Salem; Leonard and his wife Marilyn of Urbandale, Iowa; Don and his wife Elaine of Salem; Charles and his wife Joann of Lakeland, Minn.; Raphael and his wife Judy, John and his wife Jeanette, and George and his wife Carla all of Salem; one daughter, Joann and her husband Jim Mentele of Midland, Michigan; 31 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and one sister, Lucille Sabers of Lake Isabel, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 5 sisters, one grandchild and one great grandchild.
