a. Note:   Salem Special, Salem, SD Feb. 13, 1997 Funeral services for Kenneth A. Jacobson were held February 8, 1997 in Salem Lutheran Church, Salem, SD. Rev. Jeff Hansen officiated at the service. Pallbearers were grandsons, Mark Scott, Mike Scott, Doug Scott, Erik Nelson, Matthew Jacobson and Barry Jacobson. Kinzley Funeral Home, Salem, SD, was in charge of the arrangements. Kenneth A. Jacobson was born March 21, 1916 in Lake County, SD, to Emil and Elizabeth E. (Schultz) Jacobson. He lived his entire life within a few miles of the farm where he was born. He grew up on the farm and attended Carlson Country School in Clarno Township. He worked for several years in Minnesota picking corn by hand before his marriage. He married Arvella Skoglund June 28, 1940 in Salem, SD. They farmed north of Salem until retiring in 1987. After retiring they continued to live on the farm. Kenneth passed away suddenly on February 5, 1997 at his home in Sioux Falls, SD where he had gone to spend the winter. He had reached the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 14 days. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, rural Salem, SD and he served on the church council and Clarno Township school board. Survivors include his wife, Arvella, of Salem, SD; two sons, Dwayne and his wife Shirley of Garretson, SD; Donald and his wife Helen of Canova, SD; two daughters, Judy and husband Kenneth Scott of Salem, SD; Janet and husband Jim Nelson of Sioux Falls, SD; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Walter Jacobson of Long Beach, CA; two sisters, Vernice Rose of Hemet, CA; and Verna Hager of Huntington, West Virginia; and one aunt Helen Jacobson of Carson, CA.
