Fred Weber and Susan Goetziner were united in marriage at St. Catherine Church at Oyens, Iowa, on January 24, 1923. Immediately after their wedding, they moved to a farm near Bridgewater, SD. This was the farm homesteaded by Fred's father in 1879. Fred and Susan Weber raised the third generation on the farm and here all their children were born and raised during the great depression. In 1952 Fred and Susan moved to a new home they built in Bridgewater and their son Jerome and his new bride, began the fourth generation on the home place. Annella and Vearl Wahle were married in 1949 and went to live at Salem on Vearl's parents farm. Walt graduated from SD School of Mines and Technology in 1951. He has been employed by Lockheed Aircraft since graduation. He married Glenna Mitchell in 1952. Mike married his wife Kay in 1953 and they moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked as an auto salesman until his death in 1978. In 1963 Jerome and Lou Ella moved to her parents farm at Salem, SD and Ivo and Marie moved to the old Weber homestead. That year both Fred and Susan Weber, passed away. Fred and Susan had six living children. In order by age, they are: Ivo, Mike, Jerome, Annella, Walter, and Mark. Mark died accidentally in 1940. They had twenty-seven grandchildren. Michelle, daughter of Mike and Kay, died a year after birth. At present there are 16 great grandchildren. This number continues to yield to increase. Today Ken Weber operates the farm homesteaded by his great-grandfather, over a hundred years ago.
