a. Note:   A requiem Mass was offered in St. Lambert´┐Żs Catholic church at Sioux Falls for Emil J. Kerkhove of Valley Springs, SD who was killed September 9, 1959 in a tractor mishap. The remains were brought to Salem, SD for interment in St. Mary's cemetery. Emil J. Kerkhove was born on January 20, 1927 at Gary and except for 19 months of service in the army during the second w2orld war he lived all of his life in the Valley Springs, SD neighborhood. On June 29, 1948 he was married to Madeline Heumiller, of Salem, SD. Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mary, 10; and a son, Joseph, 8; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kerkhove of Larchwood, Iowa; four brothers, Frank and Albert of Valley Springs, SD; Charles of Sioux Falls, SD; and Ernest of Salem, SD; three sisters, Mrs. G. B. (Emma) Kerkvliet and mars Wayne (Marie) VanWyle of Larchwood, Iowa; and Mrs. Rom (Margaret) Hanisch of Humboldt, SD.
