Note:   Peter and Lucy Lanners Spielmann farmed near Hartford, South Dakota. Peter was drug to death by a team of runaway horses near Hartford, South Dakota. Murray County Herald (Slayton, Minnesota) 12-30-1948 ** After a long siege of illness, Mrs. Lucy Kaiser, the mother of Mrs. A.C.Culshaw, passed away on Dec 23rd at the home hospital. At the time of her passing Mrs. Kaiser was 69 years of age. She was the mother of 13 children, 11 of whom were at her bedside at the time of her death. Surviving are six daughters and five sons, Mrs. A.C. Culshaw of Slayton, MN with whom she made her home the past nine years; Mrs. Louis Calvin, Marshall, MN; Mrs. Charles Snyder, Iona, MN; Mrs. Bob Anderson, Ortonville, MN; Mrs. Ed Van De Vere, Marshall, MN; Mrs. Conrad Darger, Worthington, Minnesota; Leo Spielmann, Remsen, Iowa; John, Sylvester, and Lester Spielmann of Marshall, MN; Joe Kaiser of Lake Benton, MN; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Burggraff, Hartford, SD; Mrs. Nick Spielmann, Wentworth, SD; and one brother, John Lanners, of Farmer, SD; nineteen grand-children and one great grand-child also survive. Funeral services were held 12-24-1948 at St. Ann's Church in Slayton, MN. Interment was made in the family lot in St. George Cemetery at Hartford, SD. Pallbearers were the five sons and Arnold Culshaw, son-in-law. The 1910 census shows Peter and Lucy Spielmann, along with four children, farming in Humboldt Township, Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Lucy indicates that four of her five children are still living. Clarence Spielmann, born in 1905, died in 1907.
