a. Note:   Dyersville (Iowa) Commercial October 5, 1933 ** New Vienna, Iowa, Oct 4, 1933--the citizens of the community were stricken with sorrow Monday, Oct 2, 1933, to hear of the death of Mrs. Anton Rolling, which occurred at the family home near here last Monday morning. Death followed a lingering illness. Deceased's maiden name was Miss Josephine Schlichte and she was born on the old Schlichte homestead in June 1869. She received her education in the rural and St. Boniface schools, and she has resided in this vicinity all her life. She was united in marriage to Mr. Anton Rolling in February, 1892 (??? The year hard to read--abt 1893 per census) at New Vienna, the late Rev Father F.W. Pape officiating. After their marriage they settled down to housekeeping on the farm. Ten children were born to this union; four sons, John of Dyersville, Iowa; Gregory of Colesburg, Iowa; Lawrence and William at home; six daughters, Mrs. William Rolling, Luxembourg, Iowa; Mrs. Henry Meyer, New Vienna; Mrs. John Westhoff, Dyersville; Mrs. John Willenbrink, Petersburg; Mrs. Florian Brueggemann, Edgewood; and Leona at home. She is also survived by two brothers Clem of Dumont, Minn., and Frank of Sac Center, Iowa. One sister, Kate, wife of Herman Hermsen of Carroll preceded her in death. The death of Mrs. Rolling has caused universal sorrow to her friends in this vicinity, where she has resided all these years. She was a devout Catholic, a devoted wife and mother and a kind neighbor. When death claimed her, she was well prepared to meet her maker. The funeral was held this morning from the family home to St. Boniface Church where Requiem Mass was sung for the repose of her soul by Rev Father Reinert, after which her remains were laid to rest in the family lot in St. Boniface Cemetery. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to those left to mourn her loss. is NOT responsible for the content of the GEDCOMs uploaded through the WorldConnect Program.
