Note: Marie Roling Obituary - Newspaper clipping Death Strikes Roling Home Five Year Old Daughter is Victim of Scarlet Fever The Fred Roling family, one mile south of Remsen, has the deepest sympathy of the community over the death of the youngest child, Marie Francis; five years old, who passed away Tuesday morning with scarlet fever. The little girl took sick Friday, only four days before her death, and although the best of care and professional attention were administered, her condition rapidly grew worse until death relieved her a eight o'clock Tuesday morning. Little Marie Francis was the youngest of a family of ten children. She is survived by her parents and the following brothers and sisters; Rosella, Lenora, Martha, Lawrence, Gilbert, and Frank at home, and Mrs. Frank Nacke, Mrs. Aloysius Tentinger, and Mrs. Anton Pick, all making their homes in the vicinity. Several of the other children in the home were afflicted in a mild form with the disease, but all have recovered, nevertheless the Roling home is still under quarantine. The funeral was held Tuesday evening. Owing to the nature of the cause of death, the services were strictly private, and burial was made in the Catholic cemetery, directly from the home.
