Note: Ida C. Sabers, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Ida C. Duxbury was born Feb. 4, 1915, near Canova, SD. She grew up in the Canova-Salem area and graduated from Salem High School. She married Melvin Sabers on Feb. 4, 1936, in Salem. The couple lived in Salem, where she worked at the Pleasant Acres Motel for nine years. They owned and operated the Salem Cafe for several years, and she also worked at the Farmers Trading Post for 13 years, retiring in 1978. The couple spent winters in California. Her husband died in June, 2000. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem. Survivors include three daughters: Joyce Supik of Sioux Falls, Sharon Jensen of Spearfish, SD and Phyllis Huls of Salem; a son, Allen of Garretson, SD; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marcus of Salem; and three sisters: Eva Brenneman, Ruth Kelley, and Fay Fenstermaker, all of Sioux Falls. Services begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem with burial in the church cemetery.
