a. Note:   Salem Special, Salem, SD 3-5-1970 ** Funeral Mass for Mrs. William Sabers will be celebrated 3-7-1970 at St. Mary's Catholic Church Salem and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Miss Anna Osterhaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Osterhaus, was born 9-27-1884 near Dyersville, Iowa. She grew to womanhood in that area and on 1-19-1904 she was united in marriage to William Sabers at New Vienna, Iowa. Following their marriage they moved to South Dakota, settling near Salem where they farmed until retiring in 1944. That same year they moved into Salem city. Mrs. Sabers is survived by six sons, Elmer, Gilbert and Willard, all of Bellflower, Calif., Edgar and Melvin of Salem, and Gerald of Heidelberg, Germany; four daughters Mrs. Al (Esther) Mentele of Canova, Mrs. Carl (Marcella) Koepke of Spencer, SD, Mrs. Herman (Muriel) Gstohl of Salem, SD, and Mrs. Lowell (Elvira) Herting of Concord, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Josephine Becker of Farley, Iowa; two brothers, Frank Osterhaus of Farley, Iowa and Ben Osterhaus of Dyersville, Iowa; 35 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
