Note: Josephine Coome, 83, died Wednesday, January 5th, 2005, at Avera McKennan Hospice, Sioux Falls, SD. Josephine M. Sabers was born March 19, 1921 in Salem, SD, the daughter of John Sabers and Agnes Raue. She graduated from Salem St. Mary's High School and attended Nettleton College. On August 18, 1947, she married Donald W. Coome and they were able to spend 53 years together until his death on November 15, 2000. Jo spent her years caring for her husband and children. Her interests included her roses, along with reading, sewing and playing bridge. She belonged to St. Joseph's Cathedral Club #23. She is survived by her 3 children, Jeff (Paula), Laura, and Greg (Sue); grandchildren, Joseph Coome, Mari Coome, Sam Coome and Nichole Sanchez, along with a great-grandchild, Solana Sanchez. She is also survived by her sisters, Luverne Carey, Mitchell, SD; and Lucille Poore, Sioux Falls, SD; and her brother, Robert E. Sabers, Florida. In addition to her parents and husband, 3 brothers and 3 sisters preceded her in death. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Heritage Funeral Home, with a Christian Wake Service and rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, at St. Joseph Cathedral, with burial in St. Michael Cemetery.
