a. Note:   Samuel "Sam" Burnham, 84, Yankton, SD died 2-8-1983 at the Yankton Care Center where he was a resident. The service was held 2-11-1983 at Kinzley Funeral Home, Salem, SD with burial in the Spencer, SD cemetery. Burnham was born 12-14-1898 in Spencer, SD to Daniel and Elizabeth (Mutters) Burnham. He attended area schools in Spencer and was involved later in farming which included the raising of horses. His first marriage was to Elsie Beyer. After her death he was married to Bertha E. Roling Christensen of Yankton on 5-14-1969. They lived in Yankton after their marriage. Survivors are his wife, Bertha, Yankton, SD; a stepson, Ronald Christensen, Huron, SD; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Donna) Wagner, Broomfield; and Mrs. Maxine Parsons, Tucson, Arizona; 10 step-grandchildren; three brothers, Roy Burnham, Gothenburg, Iowa; Dale Burnham, Montrose, SD; and Maurice Burnham, Kingman, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Elsie, two sisters, Eva Burke and Bernice Hanna, and six brothers, Bern, Ray, Lloyd, Leslie, Lyle, and Vere.
