Note: Canistota Clipper, Canistota, South Dakota 2-15-1945 Anna Hoiten Sherman, daughter of Nellie and Edward Hoiten was born 4-29-1890 on a farm east of Canistota, SD and spend her entire life in this vicinity. She attended the rural schools in this community. When just an infant she was baptized in the Methodist Church. When Anna was quite young, her mother died and she assumed the responsibility of raising the family. On 3-4-1925 she was united in marriage with Harold Sherman in Sioux Falls, SD. After the marriage they settled in the Sherman home in Canistota where they have remained. She loved her home and garden. She had been in poor health for years and in 1939 underwent a major operation at a Sioux Falls hospital. She had been suffering for some time and on 1-23-1945 was taken seriously ill. On 1-26-1945 she was taken to McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD where she passed away on 1-30-1945 at the age of 54 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Harold Sherman, two sisters, Mrs. Jenny Swenson of Marion, SD; Mrs. Gertrude McCarthy of Kansas City, MO; and one brother, Edward, of Long Beach, Calif.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Murphy of Salem, SD.
