Note:   Sioux Falls, SD -- Ralph Raymond Lanners, 74, of 821 N. Spring Ave., died of an acute viral infection Saturday, July 1, 2000 at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. He was born March 28, 1926 in Spencer, SD. He grew up in Farmer, SD and attended school in Epiphany, SD. He joined the U.S. Armed Forces following high school and served during World War II. He returned to Sioux Falls, SD in the late 1940s. He married May Smooki on August 4, 1952 in Luverne, Minnesota. He worked at Sweetman Construction, and later at Dual Manufacturing. He worked as a foreman for the company for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He later worked various jobs, including for the Minnehaha County Highway Department. He was a member of the American Legion, and was affiliated with Faith Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, May; four sons; Gregg, Gary, Jeff, and Danny, all of Sioux Falls, SD; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Jim Ozanne of West Sacramento, California; and two sisters; Victorine Adams of Sioux Falls, SD; and Betty Woods of Watsonville, California. Services begin at 1030 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2000 at Miller Funeral Home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
