Note: Daily Messenger, Marshall Minnesota, July 18, 1960 A collision at an intersection of two county roads here last night took the life of a 15 year old Milroy girl out on a date with a friend. Judy Spielmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Spielmann, died of a broken neck at the scene of the mishap six miles northeast of here about 7:15 p.m. The accident occurred on Redwood County Road No. 8 and a township road. The Redwood County Sheriffs Office reports that Miss Spielmann was traveling east on the gravel road with David Snyder, 16, when Snyder's auto collided with a car driven by Wilbur Viergutz, 58, of Vesta. Viergutz's car which was traveling north struck Snyder's car on the south side, the side Miss Spielmann was riding, the sheriff reported. The cars were thrown 91 feet after the impact. Viergutz's vehicle caught fire. Both machines were a total loss. Snyder and Viergutz were taken to the Weimer Memorial Hospital for treatment. They were listed in fair condition this morning by a hospital spokesman. David is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Snyder of Milroy. Viergutz is a farmer in the Vesta area. Miss Spielmann would have been a sophomore at Milroy High School this fall.
