Note: Dec 1948 address--Slayton, Minnesota Slayton (Minnesota) Wheel-Herald Mar 24, 1987 ** Arnold C. Culshaw was born on March 2, 1905 in Wells, MN to Joseph and Margaret Lee Culshaw. He grew up and attended schools in Wells and Marshall, MN. Arnie started working as a plumber in Mankato. On May 2, 1925 he and Catherine Spielmann were married at Marshall, MN. Together they lived in Fairmont, Jackson, and Fulda. In 1935 Arnie opened a plumbing shop in Fulda and ran it for two years. In 1937 he moved to Slayton and opened Culshaw Plumbing and Heating and operated it until his retirement in 1979. Arnie and Kate continued living in Slayton. Arnie passed away at his home on March 16, 1987 at the age of 82. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Slayton and the Knights of Columbus. Arnie was a member of the Slayton C & C during his working years. His hobbies included reading, stamp and coin collecting and collecting war memorabilia. Survivors include his wife, Catherine of Slayton, and one son, Richard and his wife Dona of Spencer, Iowa. Arnie was blessed with three grandchildren, Jill, Julie, and Greg Culshaw of Spencer, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 18, 1987 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Slayton, MN, with Fr. Donald Halloran officiating. The organist was Judy Andrews. The song leader was Mary Chevalier. The lector was Sr. Pat Murphy. The pallbearers were Conrad Darger, Les McCormick, Leo Gieselman, Doug Anderson, Harlan Chevalier, and Martin Gengler. The honorary pallbearers are furnished by the Knights of Columbus. Interment was at St. Ann's Cemetery, Slayton, MN.
