Note: Anna M. Meier was born March 3, 1902 at Wewelsburg, Westfalen, West Germany to Joseph and Gertrude (Muller) Meier. She grew up in Germany and was married to Theodore Koch at Wewelsburg on February 11, 1929. After their marriage they moved to the United States and settled near Epiphany, SD, where they lived for two years. In the spring of 1931 they moved to the Salem, SD area where they lived and farmed for many years. Theodore died on August 23, 1946. Anna continued to live near Salem and was married to James Middleton on June 25, 1960. He passed away on April 30, 1966. Anna had been a resident of Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Salem, SD since the fall of 1978. She died on Monday March 18, 1985 at St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell, SD. She had reached the age of 83 years and 7 days. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, the Merry Mixers and the Kitchen Kadoodlers Band. Anna is survived by three sons, Hubert and Carl, Salem, SD and Anthony of Pierre, SD; three daughters, Mrs. John (Ila) Schroeder, Alexandria, SD; Mrs. Everett (Doris) Cumbee, Salem, SD; and Mrs. Ken (Mary Ann) Cross, Hartford, SD. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one brother, Johannes Meier, Wewelsburg, West Germany. she was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, five sisters and one grandchild.
