Note: Birth date and place taken from the 1850 and 1860 census of Crittenden Co., AR. The following biographical sketch was taken from ARKANSAS AND ITS PEOPLE by Shinn?, page 494. "James Berry, son of Peter and Jane (Garrett) Berry, was born in KY and came to Ark. in 1833. He served as sheriff of this county from 1858-1860. He enlisted in a cavalry unit at the outbreak of the Civil War. After the war, he was a planter in Crittenden Co. and died 18 Nov. 1872."
In the list of coroners who served Crittenden Co. as found in BMEA, page 396, P. H. Berry is listed after Wm. Maggerson and before R. Hood. I think this would be around 1850.
James G. Berry served in Company A, Unit 2, Arkansas Cavalry as a private. (Taken from Ancestry.com.)
