Born Dec. 24, 1885, in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, a son of Josiah and Rachel (Saylor) Alwine. Married to the former Pearl Thomas Alwine. Survived by widow and these children:
 Walter L., Leora M., wife of Ernest Kaufman;
 Naomi K., wife of Alvin Hollsopple;
 Edna P., wife of Leon Kaufman;
 Ida G., wife of Samuel Hollsopple, all of Hollsopple R.D. 2;
 Ivie F., wife of Lawrence Short, Archibold, Ohio;
 Rita P., wife of Richard Kaufman, Boswell R.D. 1, and Amy E. And Lowell T., both at home.
 Also two brothers, Harry and Reuben, Johnstown R.D.;
 half-brother, Romanus, and
