CbDx PATTERSON C/bD I am looking for any info on Walter, and his son, Zera Patterson. Walter was born in Cortland Cty, NY, in 1810. He stated he was the son of James B. Patterson, who fought in the War of 1812, and the grandson of John Patterson, both of Ireland, who fought in the Revolutionary War. I know Walter and Zera's history after they moved to Iowa from Ashtabula Cty, Ohio in 1853, but am not sure of them before that. Walter was b. 1810; m. Sophia Flanders of Cattaraugus Cty, NY, daughter of Ezekiel Flanders of New Hampshire. Children include: Alzina, Zera S. (b. at Eagleville, NY, Feb 7, 1838), Amanda, Ellen, Lydia and Walter Jr., Alice, Amelia and Alveretta. I am trying to connect Walter to my gr, gr grandfather, Charles Hamilton Patterson, who was born in Cortland Cty, NY 22 June 1825. I have not been able to locate Charles in Cortland as of yet. I believe Walter and Charles to be cousins or brothers. The families are buried side by side. Any assistance will be appreciated! CuDCarol (Allen) (Patterson) Tolley <mailto:ctolley1@earthlink.net> C/uDThis query updated 2/9/99. CbDSource: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycortla/qsys/qry1999.htm Board: C/bDMessage Boards > Localities > North America > United States > States > Iowa > Counties > Jackson CbDURL: C/bDhttp://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.iowa.counties.jackson/1321.1.1.2/mb.ashx CbDSubject: C/bDRe: Brady/ Comstock/Conley/Dimmer/Edwards/Graves/Taylor/Wilson CbDAuthor: C/bDctolley1 CbDDate: C/bDSaturday, June 15, 2002 CbDClassification: C/bDQuery CbDSurnames: C/bDAllen, Edwards, Hawkins, Pate, Patterson, Wilson, Menneke, Olinghouse I don't know what info you already have on Nellie (Wilson) Patterson. I have a copy of her obituary. Let me know if you want the obituary. I can copy it or scan it. Jesse Patterson and Nell married in Oct 1929. My great grandfather, Jesse, died 10 Oct 1935 and was buried 13 Oct 1935 in Lot 392 at Mt Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa, . Nellie died 8 Jul 1940, buried in lot 1243 at Mt Hope Cemetery. Nell's siblings were Carrie, Mary, William and Alonzo Wilson. I have some cemetery records for Mt Hope and found this info: Alonzo died 27 Nov 1939, burial in lot 1243. No birth year listed. Carrie M Wilson (this might be her if she did not marry or married another Wilson, but I can't be positive) Born 8 May 1872 died 27 Aug 1956, Lot 295, Crypt 3 E. There is no Mary Wilson so she probably married and I don't know what her married name. There is a William S Wilson, born 23 Jan 1868, died 27 Nov 1940, burial in lot 1112. Do you know if James Wilson is related to Volney Wilson? In the Mt Hope Cemetery records, there is James Wilson buried in Lot 1243. Lacy Wilson, died 15 Jan 1931 and is buried in the same lot at Mt Hope Cemetery. (In the WPS Grave Registration for Jackson County it lists Lacy as "1850-1931". But no other info. There is one James Wilson listed "1843-1921" Could this be your James?) Grandpa Jess was a tall, thin man with grey hair. Probably about 6'. I have pictures. Let me know what else you might be looking for and I will see if I have it in any of the records I copied at the Jackson Historical Society the last time I was there. I have a few other cemetery records for Jackson Co Hope to hear back. They had 9 children: Alzina, Zera, Amanda, Ellen, Lydia, Walter, Alice, Amelia, Alveratta. Alzina, Zera and Amanda were born in OH. I have found Walter Patterson in the 1840 Ohio Federal Census in Stark Co, Perry Township. This family came to OH "possibly" to farm bounty land that may have been left to Walter's father - James B Patterson. They stayed only a few years (perhaps the 5 or 6 yrs necessary to improve the land) and by 1843 were back in Cortland/Tompkins Cos., NY.
