Beatty (1924-1996) "Family legend, handed down by word of mouth, is that Levi returned to Preston County from Coshockton County Ohio to get the gun from his father Robert......The date the gun was used by Grandfather Robert is further authenticated by information obtained as a result of an inspection of the gun at the Illinois State Museum on 10/28/83. It is a muzzle-loading, flintlock rifle, circa 1780-1820, probably manufactured by an independent gunsmith.
