Notes
a. Note:   Frank was baptized at Emmanuel Church where his name was recorded as Franz Carl. His godparents were his father's brother and his wife, Louis and Odelia Bucher. Before his marriage he went out to Ogden, Weber, Utah to work with his brother who owned a brickyard there. It is said that he returned home to Dayton because he missed "the girl next door", Katie Wenz. He worked as a cigar maker for his brother Joseph. The cigar factory was at the corner of Perry and Washington Sts in Dayton, Ohio. During the flood of 1913 he helped move all of the tobacco that they could to the second floor, but the building burned when the furnace in the house next door exploded. The factory was rebuilt across the street on the Southwest corner. He also worked for his first cousins William Louis (BUC .4.8) and Joseph Herman (BUC .4.7). According to his daughter, Alma (Bucher) Boesch, he was poorly paid but received the wood from the crates to burn in the stove during the winter. His children would take their wagon over to Fifth St. to bring home the wood. He was president of the Washington Building Association from 1877 to 1882. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ancestry.com Dayton, Ohio Directories, 1888-92 Name Occupation Location 1 Location 2 City State Year Frank C.
