 William Larry Blankenship, 61, founder and president of L & B Props Inc. of Ridgeway, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at his home in Ridgeway. Born in Cyclone, W.Va., on Dec. 23, 1942, he was a son of the late William Riley Blankenship and Sue Bailey Blankenship. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Riley Blankenship.
 He graduated from Oceana High School in Oceana, W.Va., and attended West Virginia University. Blankenship started the propeller business in his back yard in 1979, and moved it in 1986 to its present location on Lee Ford Camp Road. At the time of his death, the company had more than 4,000 customers nationwide. Called the "Prop Master" by friends, he was featured in a number of publications for his skill in refurbishing boat propellers and was recognized as one of the best in the marine industry. In addition to his business endeavors, he was president of the Old Salt Bassmasters, a charter member of the Virginia BASS Federation, a member of Bass Angler Sportsman Society and a charter member of the Henry County Bassmasters. He also sponsored many youth fishing events and conservation programs. He was a member of Fontaine Baptist Church.
 Surviving are his wife, Joan Wheeler Blankenship of the home; two daughters, Laura Hope Peters of Ridgeway and Pamela Sue Rorrer of Stuart; one son, William Todd Blankenship of Ridgeway; a stepdaughter, Ruth L. Cove of New York City; a stepson, David L. Cove of Ripley, Tenn; one sister, Pat Cook of Pineville, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
 The funeral was held Saturday at McKee-Stone Funeral Services chapel. The Rev. Jerry Cook, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Oceana, officiated. Burial was private.
