Living with Paris. 1930 CENSUS - Precinct 6, Hill, TX roll 2357 p 7A fam 134. Living with Martha. Maggie Inman Reece was the daughter of Anderson and Mary Kerby Inman. When she was about 12 or 13, her father and her uncles left to fight in the Civil War. She and her mother and nine brothers and sisters were left to keep the farm and household running while the husband and father was gone. In 1870, she married Thomas M. Hix Reece, son of John and Aliff Caroline Evans Reece. They lived in Haywood County for a little over 20 years, and left for Texas about 1893. They settled in Navarro County, TX for a time, then went to Oklahoma for a short time. They came back to Navarro county and farmed there until 1912 when Hix died. After Hix's death, Maggie lived with her children, going from one to the other for several months at a time. She was remembered with great love and fondness by her children and grandchildren. She died on September 30, 1931, in Itasca, Hill County, TX, and she is buried in the Itasca Cemetery. (FindAGrave.com)
