Note: 18 year-old Enoch Cunningham is listed in the 1850 census for Macon County as a laborer living at home. His parents, 36 year-old, James Cunningham, born in Haywood County, and 35 year-old Lucinda, born in South Carolina, are both listed as illiterate. At home was Enoch, Mary E., 16, John, 12, Louisa A., 8, and James, age 3. The Cunningham's lived next door to B.G. Jacobs. Both farmers would have children that would marry Cansler sisters. In the census of 1860, Enoch Y. Cunningham was a 27 year-old farmer living in the Cartoogechaye District of Macon County. He had personal property of $100. At home was his wife Martha, 29, children Robert K., 4, William, 3, Mary M., 2, and Charles Y., age one. All of the members of the family were born in Macon County, North Carolina.
