Mustered 2-19-1861. Re-enlisted 12-24-1863. Discharged for disability at DeVall's Bluff, Ark. 1-14-1865. Grandson William Blakeman 1888-1968 Married Laura Soucie of Chicago, 1-27-1909. Children; Helen Blakeman, Douglas S. Blakeman, Vera Blakeman, Ralph Blakeman, Orrel James Blakeman, Jack E. Blakeman, Billy Wyman Blakeman. 1880 census show as Lida HENDRIX listeed as NIECE, most like Helen's neice, for I have no recird of a Hendrix married into the Blakeman line yet. Another version( there are 4 versions) of Leona's genealogy states Joel has his fathers bible. The I. F. Blakeman age 4 as son is listed in the 1850 MI census. No other knowledge of this person is known. Poss. he is A. F. Blakeman ( Alfred Franklin) I will research this later. Data from Leona's earlier genealogy states: " he enlisted in the US Service for 3 years or for during the war. Nov 1861 at Camp BBarker in Co "C" 12 regt. Michigan Inft. under Capt. Jophn M. Albert and Col. Francis Quinn and reenlisted as a Vetern in same Company and regiment. The Regt. participated in the followingengagements: Shilo or Pittsburg landing, TN April 6-8 1862 Iuka, MIss Sept 19, June 14, 1863 Seige of Vicksburg, Miss. June and July 1863 Siege of Little Rock, Ark, Aug & Sept 1853 Claedeon, Ark June 26, 1864 Gregory's Landing, Ark. Set 4 Mteamora, TN Oct 5 Middleburg, TN Dec 24 Mechanicville, Miss. Peabody's Brig, Prentiss's Div. Arny of TN, detailed as Regimental Wagon master Discharged Jan 1865 and was member of A. W. Chapman Post No. 21 St. Joseph, MI"
