Note:   Will dated 07-29-1812 In thge name of God, Amen. I, James Alford, of Hancock County being well in health of body and sound and disposing mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last will and testament and the manner and form following: I lend to my beloved wife Lurener Alford, the use of my plantation whereon I now live with the following negros : Sam, Peter, Sally, Chilpah, Amy, Creida and Millie together with a horse, bridal and saddle, the household of kitchen furniture and plantation tools, stock of every kind during her natural life (and after paying out the following legacies) my will and desire is, after her death that all the negros mentioned above, except fot the negro girl Millie whom I intend for my daughter Pheriba, be divided equally amongst all my children. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Collin Alford 50 dollars together with all that he has already received. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Kinchen Alford 50 dollars together with all that he has already received. Item: I give and bequeath to my son-in-law, Solomon Locket, 50 dollars together with all that he has already received. Item: I give and bequeath to my son-in-law, John Bush, 50 dollars together with all that he has already received. Item: I give and bequeath to my son-in-law, Collen Wooten, 50 dollars together with all that he has already received. Item: I give and bequeath to my son-in-law, Redman Thornton, 50 dollars together with all that he has already received. Item: I give and bequeath to my son, Allen Alford, the following named: Sue, Ned, Hampton, Marlin (balance of page is not legible), and it cannot be determined if a new item begins. Some type of land description follows. It is not known whether this is part of the last item. Item: I give and bequeath to my son, Willie Alford, the land and plantation on which I now live, including Clark's place together with the following negros: Jim, the blacksmith, Samson, Little Jim, Soloman, Tomes and Clary; a horse, saddle and bridle, 4 cows and calves, 4 sows and pigs, the still with all it's apparatus, 2 featherbeds and furniture, the blacksmith tools (and after the aforementioned legacies is paid out at the death of my wife all the plantation tools and all the stock of every kind, the household and kitchen furniture and everything belonging to the plantation. Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Phereba the following negros: Jude and her three children, Pink Phyllis and Bob. Also, her two twins and Jerry (and Millie after the death of my wife) together with what she has already recieved. Item: I do make, ordain, constitute and appoint my wife, Luraner Alford exectrix and my sons Collin Alford and Allen Alford and my sons in law, Solomon Locket and John Bush executors of this my last will and testament and hereby discontinue and make void all other wills and anywhere heretofore made do make and declare this only to be my last will and testament.
