Note: Operated the Bettevy Steamboard Landing on the old Bettevy plantation along the Red River, and also a cotton gin and continued his fathers's store, according to Mrs. Alma Bettevy Moreau, his neice. A cement block, marking the site of his old cotton gin, still can be seen along the old route of Red River north of Marksville. Michel Bettevy was the first (???) president of Union Bank in 1910. His home at the corner of Monroe and Tarle ton Streets still stands in Marksville and was the long-time home of the Bab DeNux family. Taken from the notes of Debbie Stuart.
