The Mother of Jeremiah Shade. according to the information I have, was
actually a Hoffman, the oldest child of George Hoffman, though her first
name is not recalled. She died at an early age after marriage to
presumably Sebastion Sr., because their son, the Hoffman wife's only child,
was Jeremiah Shade. Jeremiah's son Jackson is also listed as a Hoffman
descendant. The other children were from a different and later marriage.
Perhaps eventually the Hoffman wife's first name will turn up somewhere.
====from pg57 "Our Shade Ancestors" - After the death of his father, Sebastian took ownership of the gristmill and operated it until June 11, 1794, when he sold the mill and moved to Lycoming County.
He purchased land in Buffalo Twp. near Mount Patrick or Berry Falls as it was then called. There he built a gristmill in 1788 and operated it until 1810 when he moved to the borough of Bellefonte, Center County where he probably spent the remaining years of his life.
I have George Shade b. abt 1794 listed as a son of Sebastian per information from pg 73 of Janet Shade's book "Our Shade Ancestors" BUT see pgs 1060-1062 Southeastern Nebraska book owned by Eleanor Shafer of Shubert NE Nov 1999 (I have these three pages in my paper file)
I have detached George Shade b. abt 1794 from the line of Johann George Shade where I had him listed as the son of Sebastian Shade and have made him the son of "John Shade" b. abt 1750
