Note:   The 1861 Census was taken on Jan. 14, 1861 for Tilbury East, children listed under John P. Myres with wife Margaret were Elisabeth E.and Jesse J. born Ontario as well as Friend Myers age 25, born New York State. He is John's son from his first marriage in New York State. Why a Friend C. Myers born Jan. 5, 1861 appears on the application for Pension by Margaret Gray Myers is unknown but they had Ann Phillips Myers and Elizabeth Moffat Gray sign as witnesses to the birth on one of the Pension papers. In a further application another son is listed John C. Myers born Aug. 9, 1863 but later listed as having died by 1866. In the 1871 Census of Tilbury East the family is now under Thomas Grieves (Margaret Gray's second husband) Margaret's children are listed Elisabeth (13), Jesse (11), John (9) as Grieves. Friend C. Myers name does not appear again and John Cornelius Myers, listed January 5, 1861 and June 6, 1862 as his birth date on separate legal documents. (1862 the prefered date.) No Civil birth records have been found for any of the children. Also on Margaret's Civil War Pension applications Friend Myers (John's son of New York) stated that he had listed the births in the family Bible. Copy of Marriage Registration John C. Alberta Homestead Land Records on file, Census records 1871, 1881, 1901 in Tilbury, Ontario. 1906 nnisfail, Alberta with Children Maggy, Mary and Vida. 1916 he is living on his Homestead land with wife Mary. Moved to Calgary, AB. Death Certificate & Will recorded.
