Graduated from a business college in Los Angeles about 1933 or 1934. Was working afternoons as a secretary where she met her future husband, who, as a mail carrier, delivered mail to that address.
After World War II started in 1941, she obtained a position at North American Aviation. She was head of the department compiling operation handbooks for the planes being manufactured. After the war was over, she quit working to give more attention to her children.
When they became older, she applied for work at Garrett Research Corporation. A salary was agreed upon. Returning from having a pre-employment physical examination, the company had reviewed her past work and had raised her salary.
When her husband retired in 1957, she joined the Hermosa Beach Lawn Bowls Club, along with her husband. She remained quite active in the sport of lawn bowling until her death. She was Tournament Chairman for the California State Lawn Bowls Association under President Dorothy Mumma.
She enjoyed playing bridge, trailering and square dancing.
Cause of death: Acute monoblastic leukemia - 2 months Rose died on October 24, 1980 and was buried at Eternal Valley Memorial Park on 28 October 1980. Row D, Space 14, Court of Faith (Mausoleum). Arrangements were made by William H. Todd.
