Henry Buscher Succumbing to the effects of appoplectic strokes, Henry Buscher, a retired farmer, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Deking, on Sunday morning, Nov. 28. He was aged 70 years 1 month and 10 days. Three months ago he first suffered a stroke, and has been in failing health ever since, until a week ago, when the paralysis afflicted him again. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Lutheran chrch and were conducted by his pastor, Rev. O. T. Just. Mr. Buscher was born at Duer, Hanover, Germnay, October 18, 1850. On february 7, 1872, he was united in marriage to Caroline Bierman, who died in 1902. Six children were born to the union. The family removed to America, settling at Ritzville, April 17, 1894. They lived on a farm near town. Two of the children died shortly after coming here. Retiring from the farm, Mr. Buscher resided in town. He leaves the following children to mourn his death: Fred Buscher, Ernest W. Buscher, Mrs. Henry Deking and Mrs. Dick Stockman, all of Ritzville, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Langenheder, also of Ritzville.
Dear Don, thank you very much for sending me your complete family file. It must have been an enormous task to collect all these informations. Yes, I can confirm your Buscher ancestor is from the parish of Buer. That's where most of my ancestors came from (including some Büscher). From my notes I took from the Buer church registers I can identify your ancestor. His full name was Caspar Heinrich Büscher. He was born 24.October 1852 in Meesdorf, a small village north of Buer. His parents were Hermann Heinrich Büscher and Clara Maria Klaustermeyer, living as Heuerling (farm labourer) in house No.2 The birth date differs from your own source. That's quite common with emigrants. Whether they didn't remember their birth day or they "changed" it on purpose, I don't know. The family then moved to Markendorf, east of Buer. Caspar Heinrich had two younger siblings. Then in 1858 his father died. His mother married again in 1859, to Johann Friedrich Wortmann. They had 4 more children. Your ancestor Caspar Heinrich Büscher married in Buer on 9.February 1872. That's the last mention I have of him.
If you are interested in more details, I could dig out more.
It's very interesting to learn that people from Buer moved to Washington State. My own relatives from Buer settled in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. They formed their own communities. Was this the case in Ritzville as well? I saw the name Langenheder, common in Buer.
Greetings from Germany
