d. Note:   ns, four of who settled in Brighton Township in the early eighteenth century. The oldest, John, married Mary Margaret Manley and settled on lot 33 in concession C. ... Their children, were James Henry, who never married .. ; Mary Ann, who married Captain William Adolphus Corson; and Agnes, who married Charles Sager and settled near Conceson. Samuel McMasters, the second son, and his wife Sarah, settled on lot 34 in the concession 2. His children were Millie, who married William Breeze; Ransom, who married Elizabeth Down; Altha, who married Samuel Down; Alice, who married J. Baker and settled in Chicago; William, who married Mary Oliver; Ida Ann, who married Charles Peterson; and Manley, who married Eunice Town. Robert McMasters and his wife, Minerva Henchley, settled on lot 23 of concessin 2. Their chirldren were Sarah Ann, who married Charles Alexander; Cindi, who married William Keighton and Levi Alexander; Nichola, who married Minnie Carson and settled in Saskatchewan; Charles, John, and Frank, who all settled in California; Lydia, who married Robert Bullock; and Martha, who married Wilmot Lowe and William Farrow. Nicholas McMasters married Aura Lee, but he moved away from the area in the middle of the nineteenth century. George McMasters (1823-1906) married Maria Potts of Smithfield in 1842 and settled on lot 24 next to his brother Robert. They had a family of twelve. The oldest child, William, left for Texas in the late 1800's where he had a son, George. He and his wife, Mary, returned to the second concession around the turn of the century, but the son remained in Texas. They adopted Maude Penny, who was a seamstress in the Smithfield area known to many simply as "Maudie Mac". George's second child was Emily, who married Malcolm Terry.
