  The Derrick - Monday, May 24, 1971 C. F. Best Of Reno Dies At 65 Charles F. Best, 65, of 204 E. Allegheny Avenue, Reno, a retired employee of the Oil City Post Office, died at 7:05 a.m. Sunday in the Franklin Hospital after an extended illness. He was born October 12, 1905, in Foxburg, a son of Harry and Cora Dittman Best. He had lived most of his life in Reno. He was a member of the Reno United Methodist Church and the Reno Volunteer Fire Department. He was married to the former Mabel Lilly, who survives, along with three sons, James Best at home, William Best of Racine, Wisconsin and Donald Best of Corry; three daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Edna) Ray of Rocky Grove, Mrs. Richard (Alice) Blair of Franklin and Mrs. Donald (Mary Ann) Mitcham of Reno; half-sister, Mrs. Newton Delo of Turkey City; half-brother, Robert Dittman of Rochester, Pa.; an uncle, Albert Nevel of Oil City; and 11 grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Elmer Luther, pastor of the Reno United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens.
  Charles lived with his grandparents, John C and Mary L George Nevel, according to 1910 & 1920 census records. His mother, Cora Nevel married Charles L Dittman about 1906, according to 1910 census records. She was listed as having one child, one living, which would have been Evelyn L Dittman, age 5 months. They were living next door to Charles Dittman's parents, David and Harriet Best Dittman. Charles' obit has his parents as Harry Best and Cora Dittman Best. Cora's maiden name was Nevel, not Dittman. Cora's obit lists Charles Frederick Best as her son.
