  The Derrick - Tuesday, March 5, 1968 H. C. Best Dies At 88 On Monday Knox - Harry C. Best, 87*, of Turkey City, a lifelong resident of Clarion County, died at 8 a.m. Monday in the St. Paul Home for the Ages, Greenville, where he had been a resident since July of 1967. Born November 16, 1880, at Blairs Corners, Beaver Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Gustus and Lydia Gilbert Best. A carpenter by trade, Mr. Best also was employed for a number of years by the B & O Railroad. He was married in 1903 in Clarion County to the former Laura Nevel, who preceded him in death in 1950. Mr. Best was a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ at Monroe. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Jackson of Turkey City, Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Swartzfager of Oil City, and Mrs. Dana (Florence) Best of Knox; a son, Donald L. Best of Knox; one sister, Mrs. Ida Lowers of Parker RD; a brother, Clem Best of Turkey City; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Five sisters, a daughter, one son and a brother preceded him in death. Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the Roy P. Stuart Funeral Home in Knox. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Rev. William A. Boyer, pastor of St. Mark United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Petersburg Cemetery. (*This is as it actually appears in type)
