"Samuel Graves was born about 1677 (or 1675), probably in Ireland, and died 5 Oct 1741 in New Castle, Co., DE. He married Sarah Bezer, daughter of William Bezer and Sarah Cool of Chichester, Chester Co. (now Delaware Co.), PA., in June 1702. She was born 25 (or 26) April 1677, and died 15 Oct 1751 in Delaware. He was a weaver by trade, and lived near the present village of Centerville, Delaware. He was for many years an accepted minister in the Society of Friends and an elder in the center meeting."

Cook, F.A.S.G."At the Monthly Meeting of Falls, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, on the 5th of 1st month (March) 1700/01, Samuel Darck requested that whereas Saumuel Greaves, who formerly lived amongst us for some time, went hence without any Certificate, that now this Meeting give him one concerning his conversation [behavior] wilst here and also his clearness in relation to marriage. At the Meeting on the 2nd of 2nd month (April) 1701, the Friends appointed gave account that they find nothing but that he is clear and his conversation orderly wilst amoung us. Order given to draw up Samuel Greaves Certificate and to be signed. At the Monthly Meeting of Philadelphia on the 27th of 4th month (June) 1701; Samuel Greaves appeared and desired a Certificate to Friends in Chester County. John Kinsey and John Austin are desired to make diligent enquiry concerning him, he being a stranger to most Friends here, and make report to the next Monthly Meeting. ... By Virtue of a Warrant from ye Commissioners of Property bearing date ye 4th of 11th month 1702, ... a certain Tract of Land ... South side of Brandywine Creek in ye County of New Castle,... Samuel Greave and Sarah Bezer declared taheir intentions of marriage to Concord Monthly Meeting of Friends, held at George Pearce's house in Thornbury Township, Chester County, Pa., ...
